Success Capital donates sanitary pads to Mookane girls
10 Mar 2021
Success Capital has donated 21 boxes of sanitary pads to Mookane.
Speaking during the donation, Success Capital director, Mr Ndumiso Gatsha said they did a research about Mookane and realised that boarding school girls lacked sanitary pads since they were far from their parents.
Mr Gatsha said providing sanitary pads reflected their commitment to strengthening the rights and development of young girls.
The company donated one box of sanitary pads to Mookane Primary School, 15 boxes to Mookane Junior Secondary School and five boxes to different families in the village.
Giving an update on women and the girl child in Mookane, social and community development officer, Mr Moses Rakodi said there were no jobs in the village hence women turned to poverty eradication programmes to sustain their lives.
He said the lack of jobs had forced parents to leave their children behind to look for greener pastures, and that it led to poor performance of pupils due to lack of parental support.
Mr Rakodi further stated that young girls were being abused and that perpetrators were roaming the streets due to lack of enough evidence.
Mookane councillor, Mr Thebe Setlalekgosi said he was grateful for what the organisation did and encouraged them to continue helping at other schools.
Mookane deputy headman, Kgosi Gaselemogwe Molefi also donated a blanket to Mookane Primary School. He said it would be used by sick pupils together with the bed that the area councillor recently donated. ENDS
