A. T. Bus Builders donate 65 seater bus

07 Mar 2021

Pupils who traverse the Mabuo/Moiyabana route to go school in Moiyabana will now be transported in a 65 seater bus donated through the efforts of a partnership by Botswana Muslim Community, Serowe South Member of Parliament, Mr Leepetswe Lesedi and A.T. Bus Builders Company.

The development is hoped to improve the results of learners.

Handing over the keys to Mabuo community on Friday, A.T. Bus Builders general manager, Mr Melton Mbaiwa said the company was concerned about the poor results at Mothamo Junior Secondary School in Moiyabana, saying it was mainly due to the long distance travelled by pupils every day.

Mr Mbaiwa said they desired to see pupils concentrating on improving their results without having to worry about transport.

Still on Friday, Ms Thokojame Otimile of Mabuo became the recipient of one of the two wheelchairs that were donated.

Botswana Muslim Community representative, Mr Kitso Segadimo stated that they were only doing what was encouraged by the Bible.

He also stated that they had been camping in Mabuo to encourage the community to pray to God.

For his part, Mr Lesedi stated that the bus was a priority among a list of requests forwarded to him by his electorate.

He was grateful for the gift and stated that absenteeism was a major challenge at the school, especially in winter and during the rainy period, adding that some pupils stayed away from school because they feared criminals.

Mr Lesedi said that government encouraged partnerships with the private sector to move developments forward, and encouraged the donors to continue with the same going forward.

Area councillor, Mr Gabaipone Malau appealed to parents to work closely with teachers to improve school results. ENDS
