Nswazi Mall Spar in Francistown has donated two 20 litres of liquid soap, two 20 litres of sanitisers and a thermometre to Francistown Secondary School (FSS).
Handing over the donation on Thursday, Spar front supervisor, Ms Baokeditse Paraminaise explained that Spar Nswazi previously donated sanitisers and masks to Block 1 Primary School and was working with different wards in the city towards growing vegetables to promote nutrition.
Ms Paraminaise said Ipopeng Ward in Block 7 had already received a shade for a vegetable garden, and were also working with Area W Clinic and Tatitown Primary School on a similar project.
She said despite the challenges presented by COVID-19, the outlet was committed to the corporate social responsibility of giving back to the community.
“Our business has also been affected by COVID-19 and we regard ourselves as frontline workers because we interact with many customers on a daily basis,” she explained.
Ms Paraminaise reminded pupils to always observe COVID-19 health protocols.
FSS School head, Mr Fanyana Ntaise said the donation was appropriately timed since they were in short supply and that they were badly affected by COVID-19.
PTA chairperson, Ms Joyce Ndove thanked Spar Nswazi for being thoughtful and reminded pupils to always be careful, especially at school where there was close interaction. ENDS
