07 Mar 2021

Parliament has learnt that Phatlogo Primary School corrective maintenance was undertaken in the 2019/20 financial year.  Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Sethabelo Modukanele, said the facilities included a classroom block and the school library. Answering a question in Parliament on Thursday, Mr Modukanele said 48 school toilets were maintained during the current financial year as part of the pandemic response.

Mr Modukanele said he was aware that the school did not have physical education facilities and the council was failing to provide them due to financial constraints. He, however, said the school was amongst those that would undergo cyclic maintenance during 2020/21 financial year, including the resource centre housing the visually impaired pupils.

Member of Parliament for Francistown West, Mr Ignatius Moswaane had asked the minister when Phatlogo Primary School was last maintained and if he was aware that the school had no physical education facilities. He further asked if the minister was aware that the resource centre housing visually impaired students was in need of maintenance. ends
