Transport and Communications minister, Mr Thulagano Segokgo says the construction of Modipane-Mabalane road cannot be considered for paving or other modalities such as agricultural programmes because it is in the National Development Plan (NDP) 11.

 So far, Mr Segokgo said the detailed Engineering Designs and Environmental Management Plan was completed in April 2009.

“It was part of Mmamashia-Mabalane road project,” he said.

Funds permitting, Mr Segokgo stated that his ministry intended to include the construction of the road in the 2022-2023 financial year.

He was responding to a question from the Member of Parliament for Mochudi East, Mr Mabuse Pule, who had asked the Minister of Transport and Communications why he did not consider using paving or other modalities such as agricultural infrastructural programmes in the view of the delay in tarring the 24-kilometre stretch connecting Modipane and Mabalane road, considering that the river villages area was a potential food production area.

Mr Pule also wanted to know when the road would be paved as a matter of urgency. Ends
