Search for missing 65-year-old woman continues
04 Mar 2021
A 65 year-old woman of Khwee in Boteti District has been reported missing since February 23.
Letlhakane Station Commander, Superintendent Michael Maphephu stated during an interview that the woman was reported to have gone to borrow money from someone in the village but failed to return home.
Supt Maphephu said she was last seen on that day around 7pm.
He indicated that the woman never made it back home and was reported missing on February 26, adding that foot and air searches conducted bore no fruit.
Supt Maphephu said the incident was the fourth case of a missing person reported since December last year in Boteti, a trend that he said worried him.
According to Kgosi Gabrutwe Boloka of Khwee, the woman disappeared after receiving her pension money and had gone to repay her debt and borrow again.
Kgosi Boloka indicated that the woman was alleged to have been intoxicated and was struggling to walk.
He expressed concern that illegal brews were common in the village since alcohol sale was suspended during the first curfew.
Kgosi Boloka said it was suspected that the woman stopped for a rest along the way and lost track of her way back home when she woke up. Ends
