03 Mar 2021
Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Setlhabelo Modukanele says the number of computers allocated to seven primary schools in Selebi Phikwe ranged from two to 23.
Answering a question from Selebi Phikwe West MP, Mr Dithapelo Keorapetse in Parliament on March 2, Mr Modukanele said Boswelakgomo and Segomotso primary schools each had 50 tablets.
He said four out of the seven schools had computers that were fully functional while three schools needed maintenance.
The assistant minister said they were aware of the challenges emanating from computers that were not functioning, hence together with the Selebi Phikwe Town Council had, planned to maintain all computers in the first quarter of the next financial year.
MP Keorapetse had asked the minister to update Parliament on the state and availability of computers in Selebi Phikwe West primary schools.
He also wanted the minister to state the effects of the computers on Information and Communications (ICT) in teaching and learning and how he was addressing the problem. ENDS
