Maun community mourns Kgosi Ramokwena

Maun community is mourning the death of Reverend Kgosi Kegaisamang Ramokwena of Boseja ward who passed away on Sunday at Letsholathebe Memorial hospital.
Kgosi Ramokwena, who was a full pastor at Matlapana UCCSA local church was born in Maun in 1950.
His uncle, Mr John Wellio confirmed Ramokwena’s demise, saying he died due to conditions related to COVID-19.
He said Rev. Kgosi Ramokwena was hospitalised on 27 February after experiencing breathing difficulties.
He was waiting to be airlifted to Sir Ketumile Masire Teaching Hospital in Gaborone.
Mr Wellio said funeral preparations were ongoing.
To many Maun Residents Ramokwena was a hero who played a key role in the development of the village.
Boseja Village Development Committee chairperson, Ms Ketlhotswe Moyantweng said they had lost a hero who served the community wholeheartedly.
She said Rev. Kgosi Ramokwena was a true servant who treated all equally irrespective of their status or background, adding that he was a leader who had excellent relations with everyone.
His uncle, Kgosi Babinang Majatsie said Kgosi Ramokwena was one of the highly respected village leaders because of his personality.
He described him as a jolly person, a traditional leader, a pastor, a farmer and a mentor who always wanted to see people happy.
He noted that Kgosi Ramokwena was passionate about agriculture especially rearing of livestock as he owned a big ranch in the Heinaveld area in the Ngamiland district.
Kgosi Majatsie said the deceased had contributed immensely to issues of bogosi, noting that he was installed as Kgosi in 1991 and that he was a member of Ntlo ya Dikgosi.
Tribal administrator, Ms Bontle Marumola said the late Kgosi Ramokwena was a resourceful person who was knowledgeable about history and played an advisory role in bogosi issues.
“We have lost an icon, an active and loyal member who was passionate about his work. He had the ability to do whatever it takes to succeed and to support other headmen.
The late Kgosi Ramokwena served as a Member of Ntlo Ya Dikgosi for Maun region from 2009 - 2014. He was also elected to Ntlo Ya Dikgosi for the same region in 2019 to date. Ends
