Speaking at the handover, Mmadinare MP, Mr Molebatsi Molebatsi said it was their mandate as MPs and councillors to be vested in constituents’ grievances to come up with mitigating programmes or ways to bridge any existing gaps.

He said they considered COVID-19 frontline workers, that though they were provided with personal protective equipment (PPE), it would never be enough, hence the plea with non-government organisations to assist. He revealed that Primi Piatti  Restaurant had been one such organisation to have heeded the plea after being made aware that the medical personnel in Mmadinare were in need of PPE.

Mr Molebatsi appreciated the  gesture, adding that frontline workers needed all the support they could get.

For his part, Primi Piatti Restaurant director, Mr Gary Gutfreund said he was grateful of all frontline workers for their key role during the  COVID-19 pandemic.

He said he, therefor wanted to make a donation of KN95 masks for the frontline workers with the hope that they would assist in fighting the pandemic.

DHMT regional coordinator, Mr Mphaphi Mbulawa said that health and wellness ministry was overwhelmed in terms of resources.

“Resources in the face of COVID-19 have proven to be a challenge,” said Mr Mbulawa.

He said KN95 masks were a critical resource in the fight against COVID-19.

“As  DHMT we took an undertaking that all our healthcare workers should be armed with surgical or KN95 masks within a clinical setting because we are handling multitudes of clients,” said Mr Mbulawa.
