Teachers Union Funeral Fund to become society
28 Feb 2021
The Registrar of Societies has accepted an application by the Botswana Teachers Union Funeral Fund (BOTUFF) to become a society.
This is according to a correspondence received by the union on January 7 this year and was communicated at a recent Special General Meeting held in Francistown.
Botswana Teachers Union chairperson, Ms Tshepho More said members who were present at a meeting held in Maun on June 29, 2019 resolved that the trust be dissolved to pave way for a society.
Ms More said it was on that note, that members were called to come and put the resolution into effect as per Article 23 of the Deeds of Trust.
She said throughout the transition, members’ interests were put at the forefront and everything was done in good faith by the team that represented the general membership.
Ms More further informed the meeting that a burial society that boasts 18 076 registered members, had been registered and named Botswana Teachers Union Member Burial Society.
She reckoned that the transition itself was not a problem, but that challenged could arise due to inability to manage change.
Ms More appealed to members to be progressive, move with one purpose and in one spirit. Ends
