23 Feb 2021

Ms Onkagetse Kebotsamang of Lerala can now look forward to raising her triplets in a safe and homely environment following the launch of a project to build her a bachelor house.

Ms Kebotsamang gave birth to a boy and two girls last year amid challenges of lack of accommodation. She raised the issue with the village chief and constituency office, pleading for assistance.

Upon learning about her plight, the constituency office spearheaded a fundraising initiative that saw Security Systems and Nirali Enterprises joining the bandwagon to help.

They donated building material, something that was hailed by Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Sethabelo Modukanele, who donated P1 000 for pit sand.

Mr Modukanele, who is also Member of Parliament for Lerala-Maunatlala constituency, appealed to other business owners to do likewise.

He also urged residents and Batswana to saw seeds of compassion by assisting fellow community members.

Central District Council deputy council chairperson, Mr Gabagopolwe Sebele thanked the companies that contributed and the constituency office for caring about one of their own.

The councillor for Lerala East, Mr Alph Mogami urged the community to support local businesses since that would enable them to assist residents.

For his part, Mr Otsweletse Thuso from the constituency office commended Security Systems and Nirali Enterprises, adding that Ms Kebotsamang was fortunate to have kind hearted people who were willing to help her.

He said funds permitting, the office hoped to assist those in need of shelter because government alone could not manage to provide everything.

Ms Kebotsemang thanked all those participating towards making her wish true. BOPA
