John Caroll Foundation assists Kumakwane

The John Caroll Foundation-Africa has donated food hampers to 20 families of Kumakwane.

When handing over the hampers recently, John Caroll Foundation project coordinator, Ms Nonofo Ndwapi, said the gesture was expected to be continued for the next three months.

She said COVID-19 had a severe impact on the livelihoods of many families due to loss or reduced source of income.

 She said the foundation, in collaborated with the village development committee (VDC), kgosi and social welfare officers to identify the deserving beneficiaries.

Ms Ndwapi said their goal was to assist the poor and reduce hunger in the village by helping struggling families.

The VDC chairperson, Ms Deenie Monthusi, reiterated that there were many community members in need due to the economic situation created by COVID 19.

 She said there were households whose breadwinners lost their jobs, therefore the donation would make a huge difference.

The chairperson said the John Caroll Foundation in the past donated school shoes to learners at Kumakwane Primary School.

Kgosi Chomie Seboni of Kumakwane said John Caroll Foundation had a track record of assisting in Kumakwane.

He thanked the foundation for having chosen to support Kumakwane village. ENDS
