Ministry secures funds for ThamagaMolepolole road

22 Feb 2021

Funds for the Thamaga/Molepolole road were secured early this month, says Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr Thulagano Segokgo.

Mr Segokgo said following the cancellation of the original tender, an Invitation to Tenderers (ITT) was immediately uploaded into the Integrated Procurement Management System (IPMS) to start the vetting process.

“The initial tender for the Thamaga/Molepolole road was cancelled in October 2020 after the scope of the project was changed from resealing to asphalt overlaying which was guided by the deteriorating condition of the road,” said Mr Segokgo.

He said there was a delay in securing funds for the increased scope of the project, adding that the plan was to complete the vetting process by the end of this month followed by the floating of the tender from 4 March 2021 to 12 March 2021.

Minister Segokgo said considering the evaluation period of four weeks and the adjudication period of two weeks into consideration, the award of the tender was planned for end of April 2021.

Member of Parliament for Thamaga/Kumakwane, Mr Palelo Motaosane wanted the minister to state when the tender for the Thamaga/Kumakwane road would be awarded.
He further wanted the minister to state the necessary details about the project. ENDS
