727 public servants dismissed

Parliament has learnt that 727 public service employees were dismissed from the public service in the past five years.
Minister for Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration, Mr Kabo Morwaeng said employees who successfully sued the state for unfair dismissal were 28 and that out of these, 19 were reinstated while nine were compensated in monetary terms.
Selebi Phikwe West MP, Mr Dithapelo Keorapetse had wanted to know the number of Batswana civil servants who were summarily dismissed from the public service in the last five years and the offences committed. He also asked how many were reinstated and how many successfully sued the state for unfair dismissal. ENDS
