Women should support each other
03 Oct 2013
Women, need to work together to overcome the many challenges that face them, says Palapye Sub District commissioner Ms Veronicah Rabakane.
Ms Rabakane said this during the Women and Girls Pentecostal Holiness Church (PHC) national conference in Palapye recently. She said women were faced with challenges of gender violence and marital issues that often led to divorce.
As such women needed to unite and come up with means of assisting each other, she said.
She said by working together they could also join the government and fight societal ills such as moral decay among young people, teenage pregnancies, alcohol and drug abuse. She said women as part of the society they interacted with other people and meet challenges that either hurt or destroy them. Sadly, she said, there were no forums where the women could share and discuss such issues to vent and find solutions.
She applauded PHC for organising the conference as such meeting allowed women the opportunity to share experiences and ideas. Ms Rabakane said women in the church should be seen at the forefront of addressing challenges encountered by women in the society.
She said the conference theme ‘Today’s woman touching tomorrow’s world’ was apt as women were visionary transformers capable of impacting the future through active involvement in the home, church and the community. She noted that the aim of the conferencewas that women and girls should emulate examples of great women in the Bible to make a difference in their families and the society as a whole.
Ms Rabakane advised women and girls to be aware that they could invest in the future through their actions.
“It is worth noting that, to impact another person’s life, it has to start with you as an individual,” she said.
For her part, the Director of PHC National Women Ministry Ms Lenah Lekgetho said the objectives of the conference was to bring women and girls together to share ideas and come up with ways of how they could help each other. ENDS
