Tsetseng electrification not halted
18 Feb 2021
Parliament has learnt that electrification of the Tsetseng village has never been halted but was rather delayed due to amongst other factors, shortage of materials, delays in peg inspections and the recent intermittent heavy rains.
When responding to a question in parliament on Wednesday, Minister of Mineral Resources, Green Technology and Energy Security, Mr Lefoko Moagi said the electrification of the Tsetseng village fell under the ongoing 118 villages electrification project which started during the 2018/2019 financial year.
Mr Moagi highlighted that there had been some instances where the progress of electrification of the 118 villages in totality including Tsetseng village was significantly delayed due to the impact of COVID -19.
He said works on the bulk line linking Tsetseng and Kang villages had been stopped by the Department of Roads owing to land board erroneously allocating Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) a servitude within the road reserves.
Takatokwane MP , Mr Tshoganetso Leuwe had asked for an update on the Tsetseng electrification project.
