Respect value human life - Tsogwane

16 Feb 2021

Residents of Rakops have been urged to respect and value human life.

The plea was made by Vice President Slumber Tsogwane on February 13 during a condolences visit to the family of a 31-year-old man of Rakops whose mutilated body was found buried recently.

He said the rising number of people who disappeared in Rakops with most of them found dead, was disheartening.

Mr Tsogwane, also Boteti West MP, said it was critical to uproot the practice of killing people for ritual purposes that seemed to be bedeviling the village.

The vice president called for the intervention of the traditional leadership.

Mr Tsogwane warned  traditional healers against influencing ritual murderers and  those committing such heinous crimes of the serious consequences which included capital punishment.

He urged residents to uphold whistle blowing and condemned those reporting unconfirmed information on social media saying such reports were not only misleading but interfered with investigations.

To the Xhupidie family, Mr Tsogwane said they should   accept the loss of their son, Keemisitswe Oduetse, and pray for justice to take its course.

A family representative, Mr Matshwenyego Ramohubu said they had left everything to God to help them identify the culprits.

For his part, Councillor Batsweletse Kgagamedi cautioned residents against harbouring criminals. Ends
