Mabutsane Sub-district Council appreciates donors
14 Feb 2021
The Mabutsane Sub-district Council will today appreciate all donors who have been extending a helping hand to the sub-district, including during the dire times of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking in an interview, Mabutsane Sub-district Council public relations officer, Ms Matlhogonono Moremedi indicated that they found it fit to appreciate such good Samaritans as a way of keeping their relationship in good terms, as well as to ensure that the assistance is not a once-off occasion.
“It is important that when someone assists you during a time of need, you appreciate them.
This will also help them feel important and ensure that they keep assisting us.
We will be appreciating all the donors from individuals, groups and companies alike,” she said.
Ms Moremedi indicated that the appreciation would include donors from 2019, and that the donations they had been receiving varied from household groceries, clothing to COVID-19 related items such as sanitizers and masks.
She said that they had so far lined about 28 ‘Samaritans’ to be appreciated, although she indicated that the number could be as high as 40, only that some of them would not be able to make it due to various reasons.
Ms Moremedi also said that such a gesture also helped relief government as those that had been assisted had to be struck off the roll of being assisted by government.
She also indicated that the appreciation ceremony would be held at the end of each financial year.
She, however, said that unlike this year, where they appreciate each donor, from next year they may have to screen the donations.
The event will be held at Mabutsane Rural Administration Centre just after the official opening of the week long sub- council forum proceedings.
One of the most instrumental companies to be appreciated is Debswana through its Jwaneng mine as it has been assisting surrounding villages with funds for procurement of COVID-19 necessities.
The company has also provided porta cabins to be used as an isolation centre for Mabutsane Sub-district at a time when the sub-district was struggling with space to isolate patients.
Majwe Mining Joint Venture has also been in close relationship with Mabutsane Sub-district from as far back as 2014. Ends
