At least 1653 plots have been surveyed in Letlhakane Sub-land Board’s area of jurisdiction and will be ready for allocation during the first quarter of 2021/22 financial year.

Answering a question in Parliament on Thursday, Minister of Land Management, Water and Sanitation Services, Mr Kefentse Mzwinila said draft layout plans showed 380 plots in Mmeya 829 in Mokubilo 1190 in Letlhakane while 411 plots  in Makgaba would be ready for allocation during the third quarter of the same financial year.

He explained that Boteti Sub-district had two sub-land boards: Letlhakane and Rakops, saying both sub-land boards had 26 567 and 3 702 applicants respectively who had not been allocated residential plots during the last five years.

He said currently 13 780 of youth, which makes 52 per cent had not been allocated residential plots by Letlhakane Sub-land Board, in the last five years while Rakops Sub-land Board had 2 195 which is 59 per-cent of youth applicants who had not been allocated residential plots in the last five years.

He said the land board did not have a waiting list for business plots, as the practice was not to keep a waiting list of business plots but rather advertise them once available.

Kgalagadi North MP, Ms Talita Monnakgotla had asked the minister to provide an update on land allocation in the Boteti Sub-district and to state the number of applicants who had not been allocated residential plots in the last five years, the number of applicants for business plots not allocated in the last five years, the percentage of youth applicants.
