Assistant Minister of Agricultural Development and Food Security, Ms Beauty Manake says her ministry has initiated the process to combine keeper card and brand certificate with a view to synchronise validity periods and enhance security features.

She said the brand certificate validity was 10 years as per the Branding of Cattle Act, Chapter 36:02. She also said the Department of Veterinary Services was currently reviewing, updating, merging and aligning legislation to international laws hence the merging of brand certificate and keeper card.

“As such, this process will be undertaken in the 2021/2022 financial year,” she commented. Takatokwane MP, Mr Friction Leuwe had asked the minister if he was aware that the brand certificate and keeper id’s expiry dates were different, and if so, could they both be given the same expiry dates. ENDS
