02 Oct 2013

Water Utilities Corporation in Serowe has extended a helping hand to Grace Kgari Primary School by donating exam materials valued over P19 000.

When receiving the Pass your PSLE examination books, Chief Education Secretary for Central Region, Mr Emmanuel Swapo told the pupils that the books were expected to help them improve the poor performance in the education system.

“These books simplify the content and they will enable students to understand with ease and familiarise themselves with possible final examination questions.”

He pointed out that in the past private schools were excelling much better than public schools due to the fact that teaching materials mainly focused on possible examination questions. Mr Swapo noted that the central region cover a large number of schools and was unable to meet the needs of most schools hence shortage of books still remains a challenge.

Therefore, he challenged parents and other stakeholders to take heed of the Adopt-A-School initiative and buy revision books to use for the final examination.

He highlighted that Grace Kgari Primary School has never performed below 70 percent adding that it was upon the school to set a new record since they now have revision books.

He further encouraged the students to care for the books as well as share them. Mr Swapo also applauded WUC for their contribution saying it would provide a platform for improvement. ENDS
