Kazungula Police have donated food baskets and bedding worth more than P2000 to two less privileged Kazungula women recently.
The outgoing Station Commander in the village, Superintendent Zacks Masike said they donated these items to show their compassion to the two women, Ms Gabaitumele Osupile and Brenda Monalula, who were identified by the Chobe District Council social welfare office.
Officer Commanding No 7 district, Senior Superintendent Tamapo Nthoiwa said although their duty is mainly to provide safety and security, they found it fit to lend a helping hand to those they serve directly.
The Social Welfare Officer from the council, Ms Maungo Isaac said that Ms Osupile and Ms Monalula are not beneficiaries as all slots are occupied. She said the women were selected due to their constant efforts to get assistance from her office.
Kgosi Morgan Makhanga stated that this was a first from the police, noting that other departments had been generous in donating to the needy The beneficiaries, Ms Osupile and Ms Monalula were lost for words for the compassion shown by the police and appreciated such efforts. ENDS
