Take children for measles immunisation
07 Feb 2021
National measles campaign coordinator, Ms Dimpho Keabone, has blamed COVID-19 for a small number of children taking the measles vaccination.
In an interview on Friday, Ms Keabone said some parents were worried by overcrowding at health facilities, something that could expose them to coronavirus.
Ms Keabone, however, assured parents that they should not be worried since logistics were done to manage numbers in health facilities in line with COVID-19 protocols.
She, therefore, encouraged parents to take their children for vaccination, emphasising that despite the COVID-19 pandemic, other viruses and diseases still existed. The national measles campaign kicked off February 1-12 and targeted nine months to five-year-old children.
She indicated that the campaign was conducted in collaboration with private health facilities. Ends
