Venson-Moitoi attends UNESCO meeting

Minister of Education and Skills Development, Dr Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi is in Paris, France for the 192nd session of the UNESCO executive board scheduled for October 3-4.

A press release from the ministry states that Dr Venson-Moitoi is attending the meeting in her capacity as the minister responsible for relations with UNESCO in Botswana. The release also states that the 192nd session is the last seating of the UNESCO board in preparation for the 37th UNESCO general conference to be held in November.

It also states that Minister Venson-Moitoi, will also, during the seating, attend scheduled briefing sessions with different electoral groups, including the permanent delegation of the Southern Africa, chairperson of the World Heritage committee as well as the assistant director-general of education UNESCO headquarters.

Further, it says the minister’s discussions will focus on establishment of Botswana-UNESCO category 2 institutes for promoting inclusive skills for sustainable development as well as the proposed listing of the Okavango Delta as a World Heritage site. The minister is accompanied by the ministry’s permanent secretary, Mrs Grace Muzila, Botswana Hub coordinator, Mr Lucky Moahi and external relations director, Ms Kgomotso Motlotle.

The delegation is expected back home on October 7. ENDS
