Government to halt contact sport participation

The minister of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development Tumiso Rakgare says the government has taken a decision to temporarily stop all contact sports in the country from engaging in active competition.
Speaking this morning at the funeral of former national football coach Major David Bright, Minister Rakgare said the decision was taken having considered the situation the country was currently facing regarding the COVID – 19 pandemic.
The minister said the decision, meant to protect the sportspersons from infection, would be formally communicated in due course and the government would continuously assess the situation. BOPA
