No plans to establish Psycho-social support unit

Ministry of Nationality, Immigration and Gender Affairs does not have any plans to establish a psycho-social unit within the Gender Affairs Department to be responsible for providing counselling services on Gender Based Violence (GBV).
This was said by Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Sethabelo Modukanele, when answering a question from Kgosi Sibangani Mosojane of North East in Ntlo Ya Dikgosi., who had wanted to know if there were plans to establish such a unit.
Mr Modukanele, who was answering the question on behalf of Minister of Nationality, Immigration and Gender Affairs, said the Gender Affairs Department was responsible for coordinating the National Gender Based Violence Response.
He said the national response include sectors that provide psycho-social support such as the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development and Civil Society Organisations.
Therefore, he stated that the ministry, through Gender Affairs Department, collaborated with key sectors that provide counseling for referral of GBV victims and survivors. ENDS
