Kanye Furnmart manager has emphasised the importance of adhering to COVID-19 protocols.
Speaking during an occasion to donate a bed to Polokwe Primary School sick bay in Kanye on January 26, Mr Thomas Tshotlego encouraged teachers to be vigilant in ensuring that the rules were followed to curb the spread of the virus.
He said wearing masks in public spaces, washing hands with clean water and soap or using sanitisers and maintaining social distancing remained critical.
Mr Tshotlego said teachers should continuously remind pupils that COVID-19 was still a threat.
With the school having had 13 COVID-19 positive cases, Mr Tshotlego said they should do everything to ensure that its community was protected.
He said the bed would come in handy for learners with other conditions other than COVID-19.
Mr Tshotlego said Furnmart welcomed efforts made by the school in addressing COVID-19 and was willing to engage in a long term partnership with them, adding that commitment shown by the staff in ensuring adherence was commendable.
For her part, Moshupa Sub-region, principal education officer, Ms Bounty Bikimane said teaching did not come cheap and that had prompted the private sector and other stakeholders to assist government.
She thanked Furnmart for the bed and advised that it be used properly.
The school principal, Mr Charles Sehularo noted that the school drew its population from Moshupa and Polokwe.
He said the school performed impressively in the past Primary School Leaving Examinations but that was not the case anymore.
“In the past nine years, the school was a top achiever in Moshupa, obtaining 92.3 per cent in the 2017 PSLE results, 87.5 in 2018, 68.8 in 2019 and 64.7 in 2020,” stated Mr Sehularo noting that they were determined to improve the results. ENDS
