Jungle Queens and UB Crystals trampled over Flying Doves during the on-going My Spar My Botswana Southern Zone netball league games on September 29, by beating the team 60-12 and 62-30, respectively. Queens and Crystals made their intentions clear very early in their games establishing the lead that Doves failed to overturn.
Crystals played against Doves in the opening match, while Queens played with them in the last game.It was a tougher day for Doves who tried their best to recover, but were defeated up till the last whistle.
Both teams relied on their good defence and sharp shooters to win their matches against Doves. Queens’scaptain, Goitsemodimo Dikinya, said although her team did not play according to their coaches expectations she was very glad they won.
“It was not easy, because I had an injury and struggled to perform like someone who plays in a national team. But, all was not lost as our wind defender, Gosego Tsele, defended the shooting circle so well. She really helped our goal shooter and goal defenders to convert most balls into scores,” she added. However, Dikinya said although they had an impressive game, she noticed that their shooting and endurance were very low.
Therefore, she said they would improve on these areas during their training. In the other two matches that were played on Sunday, Notwane humiliated Centre Chiefs and Crystals flying away with 83-13 and 48-34, respectively. ENDS
