Phitshane Molopo Police have engaged their South African counterparts to assist in looking for the missing 37-year old Mr Moffat Seumako, son of Kgosi Kemelelo Seumako of Sekhutlane village.
In an interview, Phitshane Molopo station commander, Superintendent Thusego Kenyafetse said the mentally-challenged man was reported missing on January 2 but was last seen December 31 wearing blue overalls.
He said South African police had been engaged to boost search efforts as the family had relatives in the neighbouring country.
Supt Kenyafetse said there had not been any leads on the missing man’s whereabouts since the search commenced at the beginning of this month.
“We have searched all neighbouring villages such as Lorolwane, Metlobo, Mabule, Mmathethe, Tshidilamolomo, Banyana Farms and nearby cattleposts, among other areas but to no avail. The continuous rain had also hampered our efforts as we have not identified any footprints in our search,” he said.
Police are appealing to members of the public to help look for Mr Seumako and report any leads to the nearest police station.
The public has also been urged to report missing persons timeously, especially if they were mentally-challenged.
Meanwhile, Supt Kenyafetse said the search party, comprising police, BDF and members of the public, had been divided into groups to avoid overcrowding in adherence to COVID-19 protocols.
In addition, the searchers were advised to wear masks properly at all times on the daily search.ends
