DHMT urges adherence to COVID-19 protocols

Greater Selebi Phikwe District Health Management Greater Team (DHMT) coordinator Mr Mpaphi Mbulawa has pleaded with residents of greater Selebi Phikwe region to prevent the spread of coronavirus by minimising movements.

Mr Mbulawa said in an interview that the region was overwhelmed with increasing COVID-19 positive cases, adding that 674 cases had already been registered in the region.

Of the 674 positive cases registered, he said 326 were from Selebi Phikwe cluster, whilst Bobonong and Mmadinare clusters registered 164 and 184 cases respectively.

Mr Mbulawa added that the region also registered seven COVID-related deaths, urging communities in the three clusters to adhere to COVID-19 protocols.

Greater Selebi Phikwe has a total of 185 active cases. Meanwhile Selebi Phikwe police have raised concern over people who continued to violate curfew protocols by moving around after 8pm.

Selebi Phikwe Police Station Commander Superintendent Meshack Pulenyane also warned those who continued to sell traditional brews to desist from doing so, adding that the sale of alcohol was still prohibited.

On other issues Superintendent Pulenyane warned Selebi Phikwe community from buying cars advertised in social media particularly from foreign countries.

He said the police were investigating four cases in which four different people had been swindled more than P100 000 as they attempted to buy cars advertised on social media. ENDS
