Churches pray for Botswana

01 Oct 2013

Christians from different churches convened at Boipuso Hall on September 29 for a special church service to mark Botswana’s 47 years Independence day celebrations. The nation joined hands as pastors prayed for rain, social and cultural ills, preparations for the elections, economic stability, peace and stability.

Giving a sermon during the church service, Bishop Valentine Seane said Botswana was a Christian dominated country and hence if Christians took responsibility and made the right choices Botswana will be a better country.
He said the Ten Commandments from the Bible should be followed and scribed in everyone’s heart as they guided people on how they should carry themselves.

Bishop Seane highlighted that the world was sick with social ills because people did not follow the Bible but promoted evil. “Everyone has a role to play and live according to God’s will, do not ever replace God with anything else,” he noted. He indicated that there was so much instability in the world because people were driven by greed as they kept fighting for money.

The Bishop said alcohol was one of the main factors that contributed to social ills adding that even Christians indulged in alcohol and drug abuse. He talked against people who committed suicide and murder which he said was against God because God was the creator of life and hence no one should claim a life.

“God is against abortion and even the morning after pills that women take after engaging in conjugal act, that is more like taking away an innocent life,” he noted. He further talked against homosexuality which he said was against the Bible as God made a woman and a man to marry and have children.

Bishop Seane said parents should be careful how they raised their children as that may influence what they became in future. He indicated that corruption, forgery, tax invasion and stealing were all acts against God’s will which destroyed the world. Bishop Seane urged the society to love each other and assist one another anyhow despite gender, race and colour. ENDS
