FNBB BOTESSA AGM slated for Saturday
20 Jan 2021
Botswana Tertiary Student Sports Association (FNBB/BOTESSA) will hold a virtual annual general meeting on Saturday to discuss strategies that will help the association stay afloat in 2021 amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Communications and marketing officer, Emmanuel Seiphetlho noted that the AGM was supposed to be held last month, but that it was postponed due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.
“The new development is that the meeting will be held over the weekend in Gaborone through a video/audio conference on the zoom platform, and two representatives of each member affiliate will be invited,” he said.
He said the invitation was issued on the basis that one representative would attend physically while the other would participate virtually. He added that priority would be given to Student Representative Committees and stakeholders from the Ministry of Youth Empowerment Sport and Culture Development.
He said those participating virtually would be assisted with data bundles to enable their presence throughout the meeting.
Seiphetlho revealed that some of the issues to be discussed included objectives to be implemented with the view to improve strategic partnerships.
He said part of their objectives was to increase participation of women and people living with disabilities.
He said the association was negatively affected by the pandemic as most of their planned events were put on hold.
“We will also come up with ways that will enable us to continue with the daily activities of the association despite the pandemic. We have to live side by side with the virus and do all that will benefit the association and affiliates members,” he said.
Seiphetlho further said the calendar for the 2021 events have been released and that some events to be undertaken included women commission activities, coaching clinics and local camps. Ends
