Tsogwane comforts families of missing boys
18 Jan 2021
Vice President Mr Slumber Tsogwane Friday visited the families of two boys missing since December last year.
The boys, aged five year and 12, both of Mpifelang family, disappeared at Sesejwe cattle-post in the outskirts of Mmatshumo where one of the parents worked.
Urging them to remain hopeful that their children would be found in good health, the vice president nonetheless acknowldged that for a child to be missing for such a long period was disturbing and disheartening.
He encouraged the parents of the two missing boys, who are sisters, to trust in God and remain comforted.
It is reported that boys left their cattle-post to go to a nearby borehole in the company of a dog which returned home after two days.
One of the parents, Ms Kemofilemang Mpifelang stated that there were heavy rains after the the boys’s departure.
Ms Mpifelang said the search for the cousins started overnight adding that their footprints were only visible for a few metres.
Senior Superintendent Sarah Gabathusi said the case was reported to Orapa police by employers of the parent of one of the missing children and the search commenced the following day. The search continued with members of the community and public servants while a police helicopter was engaged twice but all efforts were futile, she said.
Councillor Oagile of Mmatshumo said it was painful to come to terms with the fact that the children had disappeared without a trace.BOPA
