Moagi gives water electricity update

18 Jan 2021

Plans to address the water and electricity situation in Ramotswa constituency are at an advanced situation, says MP for the area, Mr Lefoko Moagi.

Mr Moagi, who is also Minister of Mineral Resources, Green Technology and Energy Security, told a meeting of Gamalete leaders at Ramotswa kgotla recently that plans were underway to have the Boatle water treatment plant operating before the end of March.

He said the water treatment plant would improve water pressure in Ramotswa and improve water reticulation.

Mr Moagi said the project was 99 per cent complete.

He expressed hope that the constituency would also benefit from the Lobatse water supply master plan, adding that consultations were underway.

The MP also noted that the Ramotswa transmission sub-station was nearing completion and that commissioning was expected before the end of March.

On other electricity issues, Mr Moagi apologised for Botswana Power Corporation for the power cut on 24 December, saying it was due to damage that was encountered as well as the bad weather.

He noted that the power cut led to many losses in the community, adding that the power cut was not planned.

For his part, Kgosi Tsimane Mokgosi said the power cut led to many losses, especially among business owners.

Kgosi Tsimane, who is Gamalete deputy chief, said the contractor, who led to the power cut, should pay for the losses.

Other leaders commended Mr Moagi for his ‘exemplary behaviour’ in Parliament, saying many could learn from him.

The leadership, which was from Ramotswa, Taung, Mogobane and Otse, included dikgosi, ministers’ fraternal and village development committee representatives. Ends
