Ebineng urges employers to play part
13 Jan 2021
Employers in both public and private sector have been urged to ensure that there is social distancing at the work place.
Briefing the media on Tuesday, permanent secretary in the Ministry of Health and Wellness, Mr Kabelo Ebineng, appealed to employers to make sure that employees were not crowded at the work place since that could increase chances of spreading the virus.
Mr Ebineng said the idea of staff shifting and allowing others who seemed to be not well or living with other conditions to work from home would go a long way in averting the spread of the virus.
He said the shifting and working from home would assist not only the ministry of health but it would also benefit the employers to avoid shut downs if one contracted the virus as the other group would continue with providing services while the other group goes into isolation.
Mr Ebineng said community leaders and all leaders from other sectors should ensure that their members adhere to all the set COVID-19 protocols as it was the only way of averting the spread of the virus.
The Director of Health Services, Dr Malebogo Kebabonye said the spread of the virus was now cutting across all ages and was causing a serious challenge to the health facilities as children would have to be accompanied by their parents at isolation centres, which means the space needed would be for two people.
