Africa Sports Ventures Group (ASVG) recently launched the first season of African Empire Warrior, which will be held in Liberia from October to December.
ASVG is a profit limited liability sports solutions, services and business corporation.
One of their key objectives is to fully invest its earnings back into the sports industry of Africa in various formats such as sponsorships.
In an interview on Monday January 11, ASVG director of communications and media, Ntebogang Sebetlela indicated that Africa Empire Warrior was an innovative, 12-stage hurdles competition that would have contestants from across Africa battle for the great crown.
She noted that each of the 12 stages would represent an ancient African Empire.
Sebetlela highlighted that the show would test ability, strength, endurance and ultimate fitness of contestants through a series of obstacles, adding that there would be 10 obstacles in each stage of the competition.
The idea behind the production, she said was to bring forth the forgotten empires of Africa.
“We realised the need to revive African history through this reality show,” she added.
She explained that auditions would be conducted in all African countries from March and each country would be represented by four contestants. “There will be only one category which include both genders,” she added.
For three or more months during the competition, all the costs including transportation to Liberia would be covered by ASVG, she said.
The winner, she said would receive a grand prize of US$100 000 (over P1 million), noting that there would be several other prizes and giveaways.
Further, Sebetlela said registration for African theme song contest would be open for African artistes on February 15 on HITLAB platform at www.hitlab.com, adding that the winner would produce the song, ultimately winning a prize and a recording contract through HITLAB recording company in Canada.
The song, he said would have to capture the essence of Africa, its culture, the diversity of its people, its food, fashion, the resilience of its people and history.
Sebetlela explained that the top five finalists for the theme song would perform live virtually on Africa day, May 25 at the Africa Sports Awards. ENDS
