Coaching education core in football growth

Licensing of football coaching and training is considered as one of the powerful tool in efforts to improve and regenerate soccer locally.

Botswana Football Association (BFA) acting technical director, Carolin Braun  said in an interview that such development would help towards the growth of football at grass root level since it would engage minors.

She said constant coaching training was vital as it gave out basic knowledge and football tactics that would build up coaches and players as well.

Additionally, she said FIFA license was the gate away for excellence in Botswana football to be able to compete internationally in football competitions.

Braun said licensing coaches would benefit the country in a long term productions in uprooting new talent in football and also coaches becoming competitive in international game.

Braun said training coaches would ease their assignment, which was to uproot grass root talents and build Botswana football to match the international standards.

Braun said with coaches equipped with D license soon they would introduce FIFA C license.

For his part, BFA spokesperson Tumo Mpatane said  the assoication was  mandated to ensure that football trainers, instructors and coaches were licensed and trained to meet international standards.

He said it was their aim to produce coaches that would be competitive in local and international market with best understanding of international football as unique worldwide.

Mpatane said it was BFA  mandate for Botswana football to uproot grassroot talents as coaches and instructors were only reliable personnel to undertake the mandate.

He said it was important for local structures such as premier league and first division to work hand in hand with BFA to improve football.

He added that when CAF reopens its full services they would consider upgrading local coaches, who had FIFA class B and class A license. Ends
