Botswana Premier League champions, Jwaneng Galaxy, will this Tuesday afternoon(December 22) slug it out with Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa on the first round of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) match to be played at the new Lobatse Sports Complex.
Galaxy’s 5-1 win over US De Zilimadjou from the Comoros island put them on a collision course with the South African football giant.
Speaking to BOPA in an interview on December 21, Galaxy legendary coach, Sikalame Six Keatlholetswe said his boys were raring to go. He said he would be facing Sundowns with a full- strength squad December 22.
Keatlholetswe said he was not intimidated by the big stage presented by the high-profile match, adding that he would treat it like any other ball game.
“I see no difference between the two teams, we are both CAF and FIFA members, we are champions here and they are champions that side,” he said.
Keatlholetswe also said his team had enough preparations for the crucial encounter.
“This is the moment we have been waiting for, ” he added.
Meanwhile, the return of the talented goal stopper, Ezekiel Morake to the club on a two-year deal is also expected to boost the team’s morale.
Sundowns club’s key players were on the sidelines as they drew 1-1 with Golden Arrows Saturday, perhaps sending a message to the opponents.
The return leg match will be played at the Loftus Versfield Stadium in Pretoria, South Africa on January 5. No supporters will be allowed due to COVID-19 protocols. ends
