Conservation remains priority during pandemic

The Association of Environment Club of Botswana (AECB) Chairperson, Ms Bogadi Segole says conservation remains a priority, even during the trying times of COVID-19.
Speaking to BOPA after an AECB annual general meeting in Ghanzi recently, Ms Segole stated that since conservation was essential, they had plotted how to run the association in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
She revealed that members had been mandated to carry out activities within their regions, without crossing zones.
The chairperson said they planned to resuscitate out-of-school conservation clubs, to sensitise members of the public within their territories, adding that they intended to intensify online education, through use of social media platforms.
Ms Segole said they would continue to mobilise and sensitise farmers on how to deal with issues of human/wildlife conflict through outreach initiative.
She said she was happy that during the annual general meeting, they had made input towards constitution review, while the anti-corruption draft policy was put before members.
Earlier, in his welcome remarks, Ghanzi Senior Wildlife Warden, Mr Julius Rakose pleaded with members to interrogate all challenges encountered by the association in order to for it to realise its mandate. ends
