Respect Christmas day - Kgosi Tsiane
20 Dec 2020
Kgosi Visco Tsiane of Takatokwane, says back in the day, Christmas celebrations were the total opposite of what is happening now, where being drunk and causing accidents is the order of the day.
“Christmas was a time to celebrate the Lord and families would come together, share good memories and food,” he said.
He said that even though traditional beer was made for fathers to make merry, it did not compare to what was happening today, which may be termed worse than the Biblical Sodom and Gomorrah.
He said there was respect for Christmas day and many understood its significance.
Kgosi Tsiane said there was no crime during their time unlike is the case today.
“We have seen Christmas holidays being turned into hell where rape, murder, accidents and drunkenness are the daily bread,” he lamented.
He said called on Batswana to relook at these celebrations and come up with safer and better ways of celebrating the Christmas holidays.
Kgosi Tsiane advised people to be careful during the holidays and adhere to all COVID-19 protocols and where possible, forgo travelling to avoid the spread of the coronavirus.
He said he understood that the times had changed, but change should not control people. He said people ought to be in control of what happenned.
Kgosi Tsiane further called on all those who would be travelling, to secure their houses and drive safely to save lives.
He wished Batswana a Merry Christmas and wished the New Year could bring new opportunities and dreams for all. ends
