Department of Education employees under Maun sub-region Wellness Committee embarked on a team building exercise aimed at boosting productivity at the work place.

The employees thronged the Moremi Game Reserve over the weekend to reflect on their achievements, failures as well as enhance social relations among themselves.

A member of the Wellness Committee, Mr Thebeitsile Katlholo revealed in an interview that they held a successful event, which gave employees an opportunity to ponder  on what they had done during the year as well as to recognise their contributions in the success of the department.

He explained that activities such as team building were paramount in the work place as they instilled team work spirit , respect for one another and also promoted healthy mind at the work place.

The exercise, he said motivated workers to work as a team rather than to compete.

Mr Katlholo also noted that it helped employees to better understand each other’s strengths, weaknesses and interests, adding that they also had a chance to discuss new strategies to improve service delivery.

The event, he said was interesting as all employees were free to express their views, share their impediments in the workplace and find lasting solutions to boost productivity.

Mr Katlholo, believes that organisations with high performing teams are more successful and see a big boost in their bottom line.

He revealed that strong teams needed to build through activities which bring all employees together, citing team building exercise.

Apart from work related activities, the employees, he said also had an opportunity to appreciate the beauty of the fauna around Moremi Game Reserve.

The employees, he said also embarked on community activities such as removing fallen trees from roads and painting of sign boards.

Mr Katlholo wished other departments could emulate their efforts and enjoy the benefits of team building exercise.

He said it was unfortunate as some organisations failed to understand the value of team building as they did not include it in their plans.

Employees, he said felt valued when they partake in activities outside the work environment, as they feel more engaged and part of the system. ends
