Motlakase GU share spoils

26 Sep 2013

Motlakase Power Dynamos Football Club shared spoils with Gaborone United (GU) when they played to a two all draw in Palapye on  September 25, ensuring that they maintain their unbeaten record since the current league season started.

GU started off well as they grabbed an early two goal lead inside the first five minutes through a Mandla Mgadla header and Edwin Olerile’s hot shot. As the game progressed Chouka Chouka, as Motlakase Power Dynamos is popularly known, looked as if they were going to have a miserable afternoon.

However, they managed to re-group and started going forward in search of a goal. In the second stanza they continued where they had left off as they forced their former shot-stopper, Kagiso Tshelametsi, into making fine saves.

Midway through the second half their efforts were rewarded when they pulled one back thanks to a fine foot work from their lanky top man Oweleng Baruti who managed to elude the GU defence before unleashing a powerful shot from close range leaving the keeper with no chance. The goal gave Chouka some kind of confidence as they continued to pile pressure on the visitors and GU’s midfield could not contain the team’s stocky play maker Gabathompe ‘Mbesuma’ Tsheko’ who caused them a lot of trouble.

Perhaps sensing trouble, Major Bright substituted Kabo Rasuping and introduced Kgololo Kgogobi but that did not deter Chouka from surging forward in search of an equalizer. In the dying minutes the troublesome Tsheko made no mistake as he freely headed home a cross ball from a teammate, putting the ball beyond the reach of the opponents’ keeper to ensure that the two teams shared the spoils.

After the game, Chouka’s coach, Oris Radipotsane decried the lack of concentration from his defence when the game started, which he said led to them being punished with the two early goals.

He however expressed hope that with time they will be okay because the league has just started, adding that their intension is to get as many points as they can. ENDS
