Expenditure on LIMID over P600m
13 Dec 2020
Government has implemented 41 779 applications at a cost of P601.7 million since inception of Livestock Management and Infrastructure Development (LIMID) Phase II in 2010.
This was said by the Assistant Minister of Agricultural Development and Food Security Ms Beauty Manake when answering a question in Parliament.
She said 17 570 approved projects pending implementation were estimated at a cost of P229m.
She said the backlog was due to inadequate funding and shortage of other resources.
Ms Manake, however, said the ministry was in the process of reviewing the LIMID programme to align it to the ministry’s transformation agenda whose goal was to commercialise the agricultural sector through improved agricultural productivity, agro processing and access market.
Francistown West MP Mr Ignatius Moswaane had asked if the minister was aware of the LIMID backlog. ENDS
