Committee ministry identify deserving individuals

13 Dec 2020

The Ministry of Agricultural Development and Food Security has established the Agricultural Land Allocation Committee (ALAC) which works closely with the ministry of Land Management, Water and Sanitation Servises to identify deserving individuals who need.

The committee, according to the assistant minister of agricultural development  and food security, identifies, assess and recommend deserving individuals for allocation by the lands ministry.

Ms Manake told Parliament that ALAC was part of the efforts to assist some people, especially the youth whom she said she was aware that they were unable to fully utilise the Livestock Management and Infrastructure Development (LIMID) due to shortage of land.

In addition, she said LIMID had other packages that did not require extensive use of land such as tswana chickens and fodder processers, which farmers in the North East were encouraged to take advantage of.

She said currently there were 321 tswana chicken projects and 60 animals husbandry and fodder projects.

Tati West Member of Parliament, Mr Simon Moabi had asked the minister to state measures in place to assist people in the North East District who could not fully utilise LIMID due to shortage of land. ENDS
