Graders relocate to maintain roads
10 Dec 2020
Ministry of Transport and Communications has relocated one of the Kgalagadi North constituency graders to maintain roads in the Kgalagadi South constituency.
The minister, Mr Thulagano Segokgo told Parliament that the relocation was done pending repairs of all graders allocated to the Kgalagadi South constituency.
The minister said the constituency was allocated three graders, one in the last six years while the other two were deployed in 1978 and 2005. “
The repairs for one were done in-house while the other two were outsourced,” he said.
Mr Segokgo also said one of the outsourced repairs failed upon inspection and were returned to the service provider with one grader being expected back today while the other one, which required repairs of hydraulic cylinders of the moldboard, was expected by December 18.
The third grader being repaired in-house is awaiting delivery of an injector pump.
The minister was responding to a question from Kgalalgadi South MP, Mr Sam Brooks, who wanted to know the number of graders allocated to the Kgalagadi South constituency in the past six years, the number of broken ones and the ministry’s plan regarding the machines. Ends
