Hostels currently being upgraded
08 Dec 2020
Pitikwane Junior Secondary School hostels are currently being upgraded to accommodate 96 additional pupils in line with social distancing protocols.
Assistant Minister of Basic Education, Ms Nnaniki Makwinja said this in response to a question from Serowe North MP, Mr Baratiwa Mathoothe in Parliament on Monday.
Ms Makwinja said the general condition of the hostels was fair, but painting and minor electrical repairs would be covered within the ongoing works.
She said the ministry was also assisting Bonwatlou JSS with minor maintenance of their dilapidated facilities including hostels, which were refurbished this year at a cost of P393 589.
In addition, she pointed out that two new hostels, one male and one female had been erected to accommodate 72 pupils and would be handed to the school before the end of the month.
MP Mathoothe wanted to know when the assistant minister would consider renovating/upgrading hostels at Pitikwane and Bonwatlou schools since they were in a bad state. Ends
