Mascom Wireless has been commended for efforts of giving back to communities in a bid to make a difference in the people’s lives.
Speaking during the handing over of a P100 000 donation from Mascom Wireless as proceeds from the Mascom Batanani Walk, which was held virtually, Francistown Mayor, Mr Godisang Radisigo applauded the company for remaining focused in achieving its objectives despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
He said the donation, which would benefit Jubilee Psychiatric Clinic, would be useful as statistics were showing that the number of people affected by mental health was growing due to different social issues.
Mr Radisigo said the funds would also help in improving the services provided, thereby making the patients’ recovery journey easier.
Mascom chief executive officer, Ms Dzene Makhwade-Seboni said they were proud to be making a difference in the lives of the people of Francistown and surrounding areas.
She said although this year was a bit different, the COVID-19 pandemic did not deter them from reaching out to Jubilee Clinic.
She noted that this year they partnered with celebrated citizens among them Isaac Makwala, Leungo Pitse and Botswana Housing Corporation, Botswana Police Services as well as Morupule Mine to promote the Batanani Walk.
Jubilee Hospital Psychiatrist Dr Paul Sidandi appreciated the donation.
He said the hospital carried a lot of history as it was constructed in 1914 and upgraded in 1932.
This year’s walk was held under the theme: Better Mental health. Ends
