Rakgare appeals for support

Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development Tumiso Rakgare has appealed to the business community to make a pledge towards assisting underprivileged athletes.
He was speaking on the sidelines of an inaugural charitable football game at the National Stadium on December 5.
Rakgare said they were planning to build houses for identified athletes and their target was P500 000.
He applauded Botswana Oil and BOFINET for their contributions towards the pledge.
BOFINET chief executive officer, Mabua Mabua said the initiative was a good gesture and a lot could be done going forward.
He said as responsible citizens the initiative should be regarded a noble development.
For his part, permanent secretary in the ministry, Kago Ramokate pleaded with the business community to heed the minister’s call. He said it was a great idea to assist those who don the much adored national colors.
Ramokate said the account details would be provided soon so as to move faster with the idea of assisting less privileged athletes.
As a way of kick starting the project the ministry hosted a football match between minister’s select team and Captains of Industry Football team.
Rakgare scored a hatrick to help his team beat the visitors 6-3.
Franco Lesokwane, who was introduced deep in the second half, scored a brace while the last goal was score by Luzboy Seboni.
The minister’s team was coached by Tonota MP, Pono Moatlhodi assisted by rapper, Thato Scar Matlhabaphiri. Ends
