CEDA funds more than 3 000

The Citizen Entrepreneurial Development Agency (CEDA) has funded 3 470 businesses valued at P222 million since the introduction of the revised CEDA guidelines in July 16, 2020. Responding to a question from Member of Parliament for Jwaneng-Mabutsane, Mr Mephato Reatile, Assistant Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Mr Molebatsi Molebatsi said the funded projects have in the process created jobs for 2 829 people and protected 2 249 jobs. He said the jobs created by start-ups stood at 580.
Mr Molebatsi said out of the 3 470 supported businesses, 1 496 were youth led businesses with a total value of P7.5 million. “At the same time 2 305 of the 3 470 funded businesses are women led businesses funded at the value of P5.5 million.
The assistant minister said out of the 3 470 businesses funded after the introduction of the revised CEDA guidelines, 186 were start-ups with the total value of P66.6 million and were in the categories of agri-business, manufacturing, property and services. Mr Reatile had asked the minister to state the number of entrepreneurs funded under the revised CEDA regulations, the number of businesses owned by youth and women and the types of businesses funded. ends
