Pakistan Association Botswana in collaboration with Greater Gaborone District Health Management Team(DHMT) has provided medical services to the elderly residents of Bosele Ward.
Speaking during a Health Wellness camp at BTA clinic, Minister of Nationality, Immigration and Gender Affairs, Ms Annah Mokgethi said she was grateful to the Pakistan Association for their kind and thoughtful gesture.
“Since this clinic does not have a resident doctor, Pakistan Association of Botswana has found it fit to bring their medical doctors including pharmacists and dentists to provide services today to Bosele Ward residents focusing mainly on the elderly,” she said.
Moreover, Ms Mokgethi, who is also Gaborone Bonnington North MP, explained that the gesture also provided the elderly with an opportunity to obtain specialised services coupled with dispensing of prescribed medication.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Association of Botswana chairperson, Mr Ishtiqur Rehman Raja, said their aim was to assist the underprivileged communities throughout the country with focus on medical health and education.
He said, with permission from the Ministry of Health and Wellness, the association had conducted medical camps in Lephephe, Tshesebe and Parakarungu, among other places.
He also explained that the medical specialists who were assisting at the medical camp were all registered with Botswana Health Professional Council.
“I am happy with today’s turn-up, as it shows that there is a need for medical services at BTA clinic. We, as an Association, therefore vow to continue providing free medical services to Batswana as a way of giving back to the community,” he said. ENDS
